Summary of the position

This position in the Camera Engineering Team will focus on new product introduction and sustaining of camera modules, responsible for the entire lifecycle of cameras within our vehicles which includes camera module integration, monitoring of manufacturing quality, factory calibration and test, image quality assessment, provide production support to help identify and resolve issues and field issue improvements.

As camera is linked to a variety of physical phenomena such as mechanics, optics, fluid dynamics or thermals, the engineer will need to understand various aspects of the product design and think at the system level. The engineer will provide actionable feedback and design guidelines to the team members. Lab work is a component of the position especially for the characterization of image quality and camera failure analysis.

This role involves collaboration with designers, engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, commercial teams and requires the ability to distill highly technical information and effectively communicate with other teams and management. Technical leadership and ownership, serving as the primary point of contact for all technical aspects of the camera modules.

Minimum Qualifications:

-MS degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Vision or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.

-Experience with high-volume manufacturing of cameras in module level or vehicle level.

-Experience with camera module design, optical simulation, metrology, testing and lab work

-Excellent communication skills and ability to work with suppliers and cross function teams to lead and solve technical problems

-Demonstrate a creative approach of critical thinking, enthusiasm for delivering the best product in the industry.

-Be motivated by our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy and understand how their work contributes to that goal

Additional skills we are looking for:

-Experience with physically based optical software such as Zemax, CodeV, ASAP, Lighttools, SPEOS, Ocean or similar

-Experience with CAD, mechanical engineering and finite element analysis.

-Coding skills with programming language such as Python, Matlab, C++, with experience of digital image processing, data analysis & visualization

-Image quality test experience in R&D side, fundamentals of imaging systems and ability to perform comprehensive image quality characterizations (SFR, through-focus, distortion/camera calibration, color calibration, boresight alignment, etc.)

preferr to having internship duration of more than five months
