Job Summary

Tesla is looking for an amazing graduate who is passionate about automation and robotics, who has a strong understanding of computer engineering and desire to work with automation controls development team (CAE – Core Automation Engineering). The candidate will have the opportunity to take part in innovative projects which will be directly connected with advanced manufacturing at Tesla factories. CAE team creates elegant automation solutions to build and assemble Tesla products in all manufacturing areas of the factory (Body in White, Paint, Casting, General Assembly, Drive unit, Battery workshops). The candidate will apply academical knowledge about robotics, automation and computer science in the industrial area and be involved in digitalization and development of Tesla’s production lines. CAE team provides a valuable experience at Tesla by joining projects that are critical to their future successes.

Responsibilities

• Commission, debug, and improve in-house AMR systems (navigation, safety, docking, fleet behavior) and integrate them into production material flow.
• Collaborate with software and controls developers to improve the functionality and standards for AMR and dispatching system based on project lesson learn.
• Join prototyping team for new control solutions, running experiments to validate concepts, test performance, and refine control algorithms for scalability and reliability.
• Design systems with future scalability in mind, ensuring they can adapt to new technologies, production increases, or evolving operational demands.
• Stay current with advancements in automation technology, identifying opportunities to apply new approaches and drive innovation across projects.
• Comply with company rules and regulations, proactively identify and report potential hazards and incidents, and provide safety recommendations to create a safe environment through continuous improvement. Uphold the safety culture of “Safety First, Everyone’s Responsibility” and “See it, Say it, Do it.”

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science
• Enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree program in computer science or a related field
• Entry level experience with Python, C/C++ and ROS/ROS2
• Workable oral & written English
• Self-starter and good team player who is eager to learn and know more
• Hands-on experience building, fixing and troubleshooting things using common hand tools and diagnostic tools
• Have good team collaboration spirit and communication skills, be able to work efficiently in a cross-functional team and actively share technical experiences and insights
